Eugene Farmers Market

The Saturday morning Farmers Market in Eugene is one of the better markets I've visited; this FM and the one I visited in Salt Lake last weekend are my favorites thus far. The Eugene market is large, covering several blocks and generally divided into arts/crafts and produce. Most of the vendors advertise as organic and I was pleased to see that several of them identified the certifying entity; gave me confidence they were really organic. Most of the produce stands were very attractively displayed and looked very appetizing!

I began my shopping spree with an oat/date/walnut loaf from the Eugene City Bakery (http://www.eugenecitybakery.com) - delicious!

Honor earth farm (http://honorearthfarm.com) sold me a pound of hazelnuts (filberts) for $11. Hazelnuts are harvested in September or October in Oregon so these are last year's nuts; they freeze them but they taste great.

Lots of berry vendors; I purchased a pint of blueberries for $5. Also purchased peaches, heirloom tomatoes, yellow plums, and very tasty strawberries! Also purchased a bunch of scallions ($1.25) and a pound bag of spinach ($4.50).
