We started the weekend Friday night with dinner at a Peruvian restaurant - Del Mar al Lago Cebicheria Peruana. We started with a Ceviche sampler; a great dish for a warm night. Entrees were Paella with veggies and shrimp for me and a calamari and fried yucca root for Keegan. Had glasses of Sauvignon Blanc for refreshment; the food and wine were good but I forgot to take photos:(
Saturday began with my favorite breakfast - Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and a bit of granola and nuts - yummy and easy summer meal! As is my habit, I wanted to see the local farmers market so Keegan was nice enough to take me to the SLC market - the best I've been to in a long time! It was a large and well organized market with lots of vendors located in a shaded park area. We focused on produce but arts and crafts vendors were also present. Most of the produce I saw was very fresh, well-presented, and fairly priced (contrary to my earlier email on Farmers Markets. We purchased peaches, blackberries, raspberries, carrots, heirloom tomatoes (only $2.50/lb), basil, fresh linguine, and olive bread. Keegan pulled a family recipe (cold pasta with a sauce of tomato, basil, garlic, and cheese) out of his hat that allowed us to use most of the produce! It was delicious and paired well with a 2005 bottle of Chateneuf de Pap Domaine Giraud.
To work up an appetite for such a great dinner, we hiked around Big Cottonwood Canyon; St. Marys Lake and Twin Lakes trails? about 4 hours/8 miles - gorgeous scenery and we saw a spike bull moose! We then went into Park City to see the Arts Festival - wow! Lots of artists, including painters, photographers, sculptures, jewelers, woodworkers, etc. Didn't buy anything (thank goodness my AS keeps me from accumulating things:).
I left this morning for Idaho but not before enjoying another light breakfast and a walk through the neighborhood with their dogs.
Thanks Keegan for a great weekend!
