Encampment, WY - Updated

Drove into Encampment, WY today and discovered that the Town has a small (about 6 sites) RV Park; it isn't much to look at but is in the center of this small town and includes water and electric. The sign says the park is funded through donations so each camper decides how much to pay; I paid $20.  The RV park is within walking distance of the town library where there is free WiFi! There is a post office and Opera House! but no grocery store. The Town of Riverside adjoins the town of Encampment and together they seem like a nice small town; Riverside has a small grocery store, bar/restaurant and small hardware store.

I walked most of the Town of Encampment; in the morning I didn't see much except for dogs running loose and accosting me. In the afternoon, I discovered the Town's Museum - pretty impressive for such a small town. Situated next to a small park, the Museum includes a blacksmith shop, livery, cabins, and other buildings and facilities that were found in the Encampment area in the 1800s.

Drove to Saratoga mid-day; larger than Encampment and Riverside together, Saratoga is located on the North Platte River and has the basic amenities, including a newspaper, microbrew company, and resort/spa! Newspaper is published each Wednesday and includes news of the region; cost $1.

Stopped in the Forest Service office to discuss campgrounds and based on this plan to head into the mountains tomorrow for the weekend.
