State Forest State Park

In my effort to stay close to the Front Range, I moved from Laramie to the State Forest State Park, about 20 miles east of Walden and about 2 hours west of Ft. Collins. The Ranger Lakes loop where I'm staying (Site 115) is the only 1 of 4 campgrounds that has electric. Like a lot of State Parks, the weekends are booked through the rest of the summer through reservations. Since I don't want to pay the $10 fee for a reservation, I camp on a first-come-first-serve basis which means I need to check out on Friday and find a place to park for the weekend.

This part of Colorado (Walden and Colorado State Forest State Park) is know for moose; it is a mesic type habitat that reminds me a lot of New England. With this mesic environment come biting flies - ouch!

Not sure where I'll go next but probably stay in Colorado as I try to stick close to the Front Range to help my daughter move in Denver later this month.
