My last night in Wyoming's Snowy Range before heading to lower elevation. Camped at the North Fork Campground; a couple of miles east of the Snowy Pass summit on Highway 130; about 8,600' elevation. Nothing spectacular about this Forest Service campground, but it is cheap ($5 with an Interagency Pass) and it boasts a very nice trail - North Fork of the Little Laramie River. Arriving on Sunday July 6th, most weekenders had left so I had the pick of several nice campsites; mine (31) backs to the Little Laramie River.
The River noise drowns out the generators from other campers as well as ATVs which people ride around the campground; not many ATVs and not too much generator noise by the time I arrived but I suspect it was unpleasant over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Having solar is very nice; I don't need a generator, except if I want to run the AC but since I'm camping at higher elevation, I haven't run it yet and am thinking of putting it in storage since I've discovered how obnoxious generators are.
