Although it seems a long way off, I'm contemplating where to reside this winter. Assuming the best sites fill up quickly and reservations may be required, it is probably wise to make a decision soon. I can't decide between the southwest (primarily AZ), the gulf coast, or Florida. The southwest is nice I hear but can be windy, and as my spring travels revealed, is filled with old people:) As a side note, I'm finding that most of the people I run into at RV and other parks are either older and more sedentary than I am or much younger and traveling with their young kids.
A winter residence close to the beach sounds delightful but knowing that I may be there 4 months or more, the place needs to have lots of things to do. While camping near Cottonwood, Arizona this past April, I found a nice community recreation center that allowed me to use their fitness facility for a daily fee; it would be nice, but not essential, to be near something like this. Just as important, is finding a place with open space nearby like the ocean or great landscapes; I find these food for my soul.
I may just have to travel across the southern U.S. this winter in search of the perfect place:)
