Health Insurance

Something I've been thinking is what to do about health insurance. I'm paying $583/month for health insurance provided through Cobra as follow-on from my former employer; this ends July 2015. While the monthly premium seems high, preliminary comparison shopping hasn't revealed any great savings anywhere else. I've thought of just not paying insurance premiums and just pay the annual penalty but it does provide considerable savings for my daily Forteo shots (for Osteoporosis); these shots cost about $1300 month without insurance and $130 with! I'm hesitant to make any changes in insurance until after finishing this series of shots (November 2015 is my last shot:),  because it was a bit of an ordeal to get insurance to cover them - had to first prove that Forteo was my best/only treatment available; this required a lot of tests and a good doctor (i.e., my bone specialist).

So the easiest route is to stick with my Cobra insurance until at least the end of 2014 and let the dust settle on Obamacare; insurance options might be cheaper (the eternal optimist:) in 2015.
