Settling In
Haven't blogged much lately because I've been settling into my new home. Mostly unpacked but still a lot of odds and ends to take care of, including shopping for necessities. Still deciding where to grocery shop; surprisingly, not as much organic produce in the local grocery stores (including Whole Foods!) as I expected. In general, groceries, gas, and other things are more expensive compared to my winter residence (Tucson) or even to Colorado. For example, diesel is around $3/gallon (range from $2.9-$3.29). Not surprisingly, groceries (mostly fruits and veggies) are more expensive (average 20%). One thing that did surprise me is that all stores (not just grocery stores) charge a nickel each for bags; this includes stores like Home Depot, Kohls, etc. Not sure if this is just Montgomery County or state-wide but it does cause one to bring their own reusable bags when going shopping:)
